Oakville, ON - At the Canadian Senior Little League Championship in Oakville, Ontario the Glace Bay Antonians defeated the NDG Senior Lynx from Montreal 7-3 to advance to the Championship game tonight at 6:45PM against the Whalley Chiefs from Surrey, BC.

After six rain delays the game resumed in the bottom of the third inning in a 1-1 tie. The game remained tied until the bottom of the fifth when NDG scored twice.  Glace Bay bounced right back in the top of the sixth inning to score five runs on the strength of a two run double by Justin Rudderham.  It was a lead they wouldn't surrender.  They added one more run in the top of the seventh.

The game featured a gutsy performance by Glace Bay starting pitcher Mitch Campbell who pitched an outstanding game on a serverely sprained left knee to earn the win. Justin Brann relieved Campbell in the sixth and shut down NDG for the save.  Jeremi Roch took the loss for NDG.

Oakville, ON - The Whalley Chiefs won 10-7 against the NDG Senior Lynx in the 1st vs 2nd page playoff game at the 2008 Canadian Senior Little League Championship.  The win moves Whalley into the Championship final  for the second year in a row.  They are the defending champions. The loss by NDG means they will play the Glace Bay Antonians in the semi-final with the winner advancing to play Whalley.

Whalley jumped out to a 4-0 lead after two innings on the strength of two homeruns by centerfielder Adam Quan. In the top of the fourth inning, a combination of sloppy defence by the Chiefs and three timely hits by NDG allowed the Lynx to score five runs and take a 5-4 lead.  The lead was shortlived as Whalley bounced back to score two more runs in the bottom of the fourth, three more in the fifth and 1 in the sixth to take a 10-5 lead going into the seventh.

NDG rallied for two runs in the top of the seventh but Whalley relief pitcher Carson Nylund was able to get out of the inning to preserve the win.  Whalley rightfielder Brian Wearing made a great throw to the plate to gun down NDG first baseman Jeremi Roch that help stuff out the rally.

The winning pitcher for Whalley was Chris Fischer.  Mike Byer took the loss for NDG.

The Championship semi-fianl game has been moved up to 3:00 PM EST to try and avoid thunder showers forecast for later in the day.

Oakville, ON - The Glace Bay Tim Hortons Antoinans defeated Edmonton's Community Park Reds 4-1 to advance to the semi-final of the 2008 Canadian Senior Little League Championship tomorrow.  The Antonians were led at the plate by Mitchell Campbell who hit a pair of solo homeruns. 

Community Park couldn't solve the the Glace Bay pitching tandem of RJ Barrett and Mitch Campbell who only gave up 4 hits while striking out nine. Barrett got the win and Campbell got the save.  Community Park's starting pitcher Dustin Crawley took the loss.

Community Park's Taylor Doucet was ejected from the game in the top of the sixth inning for a hard slide into second base.

Glace Bay's opponent in the semi-final will be the loser of the page playoff game taking place at 6:30 PM EST featuring the Whalley Chiefs from Surrey, BC and the NDG Senior Lynx from Montreal.

The final game of the round robin portion of the 2008 Canadian Senior Little League Championship between the Glace Bay Tim Hortons Antonians and the Orleans Red Sox has officially been cancelled. 

With Glace Bay leading 2-0 in the bottom of the third inning the game was suspended due to a torrential downpour that went through the southern Ontario region.  It was decided by Little League Canada officials that since the result of the game would have no affect on the final round robin standings that the game would be cancelled.

Crews from the Town of Oakville Department of Recreation & Culture and Parks & Open Spaces are working rto eady River Oaks Park for the start of the Page Playoff game between the 3rd Place Glace Bay Antonians and 4th Place Community Park Reds from Edmonton.  The game is scheduled for a 2:30 pm start tomorrow, Thursday, August 6th. 

Oakville, ON - The game between the Glace Bay Antoians and the Orleans Red Sox has ben suspended due to heavy rain.  The game was in the bottom of the third inning with Glace Bay leading 2-0 on the strength of a two-run homerun by Jeff Conn, his fourth of the tournament.

Oakville, ON – The NDG Senior Lynx from Montreal defeated the Prairies champion Community Park Reds 3-1 in what was the final round robin game for both teams.  With the win NDG finished with a 3-2 record to secure second place behind the 5-0 Whalley Chiefs.  With the loss Edmonton's Community Park falls to 2-3 to secure one of the final two playoff spots. 

The game featured little offense from either side due do strong pitching and defense. The Lynx were able to capitalize on their chances in a game that featured very few.

Matthew Chiovitti opened the scoring for the Lynx in the third inning with an RBI double off of Reds starter Kyle Harris.

Defensive errors would cost the Reds another run in the fourth inning when a wild throw to first-base lead to a close play at the plate as Lynx base-runner Danilo Cardoza slid in safely to make the game 2-0 for the Lynx.

The Reds came back in the bottom of the fifth inning when Reds outfielder Mike Bayans drove in a run with a sac fly to make the game 2-1.

The Reds looked to tie the game in the sixth inning with the tying run on third base and none out. With the lead at stake, Lynx starter Remel Chris-Ong pitched his way out of the jam with two strikeouts and a ground out to end the inning.

The Lynx would go on to add an insurance run in the top of the seventh with an RBI single from Matthew Chiovitti. Chiovitti’s second RBI hit of the game.

With a two run lead the Lynx looked to substitute pitcher Jeremi Roch to close the game.  Roch shut the Reds down in a one-two-thee inning with two strikeouts and a ground out to give the Lynx the win.

Lynx starter Remel Chris-Ong earned the win bringing his tournament record to 2-0. Lynx pitcher Jeremi Roch earned the save, his first in one opportunity. Reds starter Kyle Harris suffered the loss despite having a strong outing on the mound. Harris’ record is 1-1 in the tournament.

 With the win NDG will now play the Whalley Chiefs in the 1st Place vs. 2nd Place playoff game tomorrow, with the winner moving directly to Friday's Championship final. The loser will move to the semi-final vs. the winner of the 3rd Place vs. 4th Place playoff game.

Oakville, ON - The Whalley Chiefs finsished 5-0 in the round robin portion of the 2008 Canadian Senior Little League Championship after beating the host Oakville Whitecaps 20-0.

Once again, the Whalley bats were dominate as they pounded out seventeen hits.  The Chiefs were lead at the plate by Justin Atkinson who went 4-for-4. Chris Fischer, Brandon Bufton and Nic Buse each had 4 RBI.

Whalley starting pitcher Brandon Bufton pitched a 5-inning complete game surrendering just 2 hits.  Oakville starter Sonu Lall took the loss.

Whalley is gauranteed first place going into the playoffs.  Results of games later today, will determine Oakville's playoff fate as the finish round robin paly at 2-3.

Oakville, ON - The Glace Bay Tim Hortons Antonians improved their record to 2-2 at the 2008 Canadian Senior Little League Championship with an 8-2 win over the Community Park Reds from Edmonton.  Going into the final day of the round robin portion of the tournament, the Glace Bay win coupled with the loss by Community Park creates a log jam in the playoff picture.  Four teams, Glace Bay, Community Park, NDG Lynx and the host Oakville team all sport 2-2 records.

The Glace Bay-Community Park matchup was a hotly contested game with emotions running high on both sides and with the specators from both teams.

Glace Bay was led at the plate and on the mound by hard-throwing right-hander Jeff Conn.  Conn pitched 6 2/3 innings giving up just two hits while striking out 10 to earn the win.  His record is now 1-1 for the tournament.  At the plate Conn went 1-for-3 with a two-run homerun, his third of the tournament.

Community Park didn't help themselves committing ten errors in the contest.  Starting pitcher Tyler Doucet took the loss.  Paul MacKenzie of Community Park was ejected from the game for arguing with an umpire after he was called out in a close play at second base.

Next up for Glace Bay is a game with the Orleans Red Sox who are still seeking their first win. Community Park faces the NDG Senior Lynx from Montreal.
