Oakville, ON - The defending champion Whalley Chiefs were just too strong for the Glace Bay Tim Hortons Antonians winning 11-1 in the final of the Canadian Senior Little League Championship at River Oaks Park in Oakville. For the second year in a row, the Chiefs move on to represent Canada at the Senior Little League World Series which starts this Sunday, August 10th, in Bangor, Maine. As they have done throughtout the tournament Whalley hitters again pounded the opposing pitchers with a twelve hit attack that included six extra base hits. Whalley centerfielder Adam Quan lead the way going 3-for-4 with two doubles, a homerun and 2 RBI. Also hitting homeruns for Whalley were Chris Brien with his tournament leading fourth and Nick Rohla with his first. Justin Atkinson went 4-for-4. In a guesture of true sportsmanship, Glace Bay starting pitcher Jeff Conn was the first person to congratulate Whalley's Chris Brien as he headed home from third after hitting a towering homerun to left-center field that hit thirty feet up the light pole. Whalley starting pitcher Brian Wearing went the distance scattering five hits while striking out six for his second win of the tournament. Conn took the loss for Glace Bay.
