Background

The Canadian Senior Little League Championship is the Canadian regional qualifying tournament for the Senior Little League World Series Tournament conducted annually by Little League Baseball, Inc. Since 1963, the Canadian Senior Little League Championship has been held at different locations across Canada under the administration of Little League Canada. 2008 marks the 46th consecutive year that teams from across Canada have competed for the Canadian Senior Little League Championship.   

The Senior League Division of Little League

The Senior League Baseball Division of Little League is for boys and girls 14-16 years old, using a conventional 90-foot diamond with a pitching distance of 60 feet, 6 inches. Local Little League's across Canada choose a Tournament Team (or "All Stars") of 14-16-year-olds from within this division. These All-Star teams then compete in District and Area tournaments.  The District winners move on to the Area tournaments and the winners of the Area tournaments advance to the Canadian Senior Little League Championship to play for the right to represent Canada at the Senior Little League World Series held annually in Bangor, Maine.

The Senior Little League World Series

The Senior Little League World Series is the culmination of an International Tournament, featuring teams from the United States, Canada, Asia-Pacific, South America, Japan, Caribbean/South America and Europe. All expenses for the teams advancing to the World Series (travel, meals and housing) are paid by Little League Baseball.

Umpires

Umpires for all games in the International Tournament from the District Tournament to the Little League, Junior League and Senior League World Series volunteer their services.  Every year over 40,000 tournament games are umpired free-of-charge.  Umpires for the various World Series tournaments are selected from local Little League's around the world.
