Oakville, ON - The defending champion Whalley Chiefs were just too strong for the Glace Bay Tim Hortons Antonians winning 11-1 in the final of the Canadian Senior Little League Championship at River Oaks Park in Oakville. For the second year in a row, the Chiefs move on to represent Canada at the Senior Little League World Series which starts this Sunday, August 10th, in Bangor, Maine.

As they have done throughtout the tournament Whalley hitters again pounded the opposing pitchers with a twelve hit attack that included six extra base hits.  Whalley centerfielder Adam Quan lead the way going 3-for-4 with two doubles, a homerun and 2 RBI. Also hitting homeruns for Whalley were Chris Brien with his tournament leading fourth and Nick Rohla with his first.  Justin Atkinson went 4-for-4.

In a guesture of true sportsmanship, Glace Bay starting pitcher Jeff Conn was the first person to congratulate Whalley's Chris Brien as he headed home from third after hitting a towering homerun to left-center field that hit thirty feet up the light pole.

Whalley starting pitcher Brian Wearing went the distance scattering five hits while striking out six for his second win of the tournament. Conn took the loss for Glace Bay.

Oakville, ON - At the Canadian Senior Little League Championship in Oakville, Ontario the Glace Bay Antonians defeated the NDG Senior Lynx from Montreal 7-3 to advance to the Championship game tonight at 6:45PM against the Whalley Chiefs from Surrey, BC.

After six rain delays the game resumed in the bottom of the third inning in a 1-1 tie. The game remained tied until the bottom of the fifth when NDG scored twice.  Glace Bay bounced right back in the top of the sixth inning to score five runs on the strength of a two run double by Justin Rudderham.  It was a lead they wouldn't surrender.  They added one more run in the top of the seventh.

The game featured a gutsy performance by Glace Bay starting pitcher Mitch Campbell who pitched an outstanding game on a serverely sprained left knee to earn the win. Justin Brann relieved Campbell in the sixth and shut down NDG for the save.  Jeremi Roch took the loss for NDG.

Oakville, ON - Mother Nature is still being rather stubborn, teasing us with the occasional fifteen minutes of sunshine here and there. The semi-final game between Glace Bay and NDG which is tied 1-1 in the bottom of the third inning will resume shortly, weather permitting.

Oakville, ON - The semi-final game of the 2008 Canadian Senior Little League Championship between the Glace Bay Antonians and the NDG Senior Lynx that was suspended after 2 1/3 innings Thursday evening was again postponed.  Town of Oakville grounds crews are working to make the field playable after rain persisted throughout the night and morning.  Play will resume at the point where the game was suspended with the score knotted at 1-1. 

The winner will advance to the Championship final against Surrey, BC's Whalley Chiefs.  The final will be played shorty after completion of the semi-final.
